Cuba's Gran Caribe Hotel Group turns 30 years old

Havana, Aug 1 (RHC) Cuban Tourism Minister Juan Carlos Garcia today congratulated the Gran Caribe Hotel Group on its 30th anniversary on his Twitter account.

The official said it is a date that represents a unique legacy in the country's travel industry system.

For its part, the newspaper Trabajadores reflected the anniversary through meetings of the executives and employees of that chain, who celebrated the date with meetings with children from homes without family support.

Union leaders from the 14 Varadero facilities not only brought gifts and sweets donated by the workers, but also enlivened the day with performances of pasayos, to complete a beautiful day, they commented.

Transmetro Cárdenas and Tiendas Caracol Varadero buses joined in the gesture, irrefutable proof of the altruism of the affiliates and employees of the sector, said the general secretary of the Provincial Union of Hotel and Tourism Workers, Yarisleydis Torriente.

Among the novelties, it was recently announced that Gran Caribe reopened the Deauville Hotel, located in the central streets of Galiano and Malecón, in Havana, one of the historic hotels in the Cuban capital.

The 14-story, 144-room property will start operations with 100 of the latter, with pleasant comfort and a panoramic view of the city, in which the sea adds a special touch of distinction to most of the views.

The Deauville, whose name was taken in 1957 from a French town considered the queen of Norman beaches, will have among its initial markets Spain, Russia, Germany and Mexico.

According to reports, Grupo Hotelero Gran Caribe S.A., a Cuban corporation, was incorporated in Havana on August 1, 1994, in accordance with local laws.

The Group was created as a hotel entity under the Ministry of Tourism, under the following name: Gran Caribe: Sociedad anónima with its own legal personality and patrimony.

The Group currently owns 12,123 rooms distributed in 45 facilities, located in the most important tourist areas of the country.

It has classic, historic hotels with singular architectural richness, national monuments, all-inclusive, mostly located on the front line of the best beaches, facilities located in beautiful virgin spots in Cuba's best-known keys and exclusive options of nightclubs and restaurants with the best Cuban and international cuisine.

It includes Havana, Playas del Este, Varadero, Cienfuegos, Santiago de Cuba, Cayo Largo del Sur, Cayo Guillermo and Coco.

Among the foreign hotel companies associated with the Group are Sol Meliá, Accor, Iberostar, Barceló, Hoteles C, Globalia and Blue Bay. (Source: Prensa Latina)
