Cuba advocates expanding ties with the Eurasian Economic Union

Havana, October 1 (RHC) -- The Deputy Prime Minister of Cuba, Inés María Chapman, expressed her country's willingness to expand its relations with the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), its member states and observers.

When speaking virtually at the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, held in Yerevan, Armenia, on September 30 and October 1, the senior official highlighted the intense work carried out by Cuba since the previous session of the Council in June, in Belarus.

She reported that Cuba is represented in priority sectors such as industry, agribusiness, the medical-pharmaceutical industry and biotechnology, tourism, and special development zones, in the third Eurasian Economic Forum, which is held simultaneously to this meeting.

She reiterated the invitation to the Member States of the Union for government representatives and the business sector of their countries to participate in the largest multi-sector commercial exhibition event in Cuba and the Caribbean: The Havana International Fair, which will take place from Next November 4 to 9th.

Chapman also thanked the members of the EEU for their support in the fight against the US blockade, and in demanding the exclusion of the island from Washington's list of countries supposedly sponsoring terrorism.

She pointed out that these unjust, arbitrary and unilateral measures bring pain and suffering to the Cuban people, and are the main obstacle to their development.

The Cuban Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that her country will continue to advocate for the establishment of a new international economic and financial architecture, more fair and inclusive, that takes into account the particularities and real potential of nations. (Source: PL)
