Havana, Nov 14 (RHC) The communication campaign "Loyal to Havana" for the 505th anniversary of the city began this Wednesday, in honor of the restoration movement in the capital, the protagonists of the project and its author, Eusebio Leal.

Magda Resik, director of communication of the Office of the City Historian (OHCH), announced at a press conference that as every year the campaign is dedicated to the most faithful and loyal of the Habaneros and aims at rescuing emblematic buildings in the capital.

Jesús Ramírez, deputy technical director of the OHCH investment directorate, referred to the restoration of important works in Havana, such as the Convent of Santa Clara, founded in 1644 and of great historical significance.

He explained that its restoration has been masterful, and it is still approximately 45 percent complete. The convent will be transformed into a college for the study of restoration arts for Cuba and the Caribbean.

According to Ramírez, the Malecón 507 and 511 heritage-grade works from the 1920s will also be restored and transformed into a Cultural Center for the headquarters of the Architecture Biennial.

Likewise, he referred to the legendary La Punta Castle, a colonial-era property, where extensive restoration work was carried out.

As part of the program, the expert also mentioned the Casa de Asia and the Plaza Vieja, for which the project took into account their portals and the removal of architectural barriers to ensure that families enjoy a pleasant stroll.

The campaign was conceived by the city's historical center, and according to its organizers, there is great anticipation for the upcoming edition of the Havana Biennial to be held from November 15 to next February. (Source: Prensa Latina)
