Havana, December 27 (RHC) -- The President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, reaffirmed this Thursday the willingness of his country to promote cooperation, solidarity, and integration with the Eurasian Economic Union. (UEEA).
Speaking virtually from Havana at the Eurasian Economic Supreme Council Meeting held in St. Petersburg, Russia, the President highlighted Armenia's management throughout 2024 as the pro tempore president of the Union's bodies.
He pointed out that his country places great importance on strengthening ties with the Union's member states, within the broad framework of possibilities and mechanisms it offers.
Precisely, the organization of the IV Joint Commission between Cuba and the Eurasian Economic Commission, scheduled for the first quarter of 2025 in Moscow, will contribute to the strengthening and diversification of economic, commercial, financial, and cooperation relations with the countries of the Union, he pointed out.
He affirmed that in this endeavor, the approval of the Joint Collaboration Plan for the period 2025-2030 will contribute decisively.
We are convinced that this is the only effective way to seek viable solutions to the serious problems facing the world, from a perspective that promotes unity and mutual respect, within diversity and in favor of the development and well-being of peoples and nations, he said.
He also highlighted the optimism, resilience, and creative capacity of the Cuban people, as well as the certainty that the coming year will be fruitful, despite the challenges, for the achievement of common objectives and goals for sustainable development.
This is the ninth occasion on which the Cuban head of state has participated in a session of the Eurasian Economic Supreme Council, an EAEU body composed of the heads of state of the member countries.
Cuba joined the EAEU as an observer state on December 11, 2020.
