Solidarity groups carry out activities in Cuba

Havana, Jan 7 (RHC) Solidarity associations have been carrying out activities in Cuba in support of the island and in rejection of the U.S. blockade.

One of these groups is the Cruz del Sur International Brigade of Solidarity with Cuba, which began the 40th edition of their visits to the island this Monday.

The brigade, comprising members from Australia and New Zealand, gained a comprehensive understanding of the foreign policy objectives of the U.S. administrations and their interactions with Cuba through a specialized seminar conducted by Hassan Pérez, a researcher from the University of Havana.

They also met with the board of directors of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples.

Vinnie Molina, leader of the Communist Party of Australia and one of the 13 members of the Brigade, stated that it was their responsibility to stand by the Cuban people who had chosen to defend their social project in the face of imperialist aggression.

Their program, which will run until January 23, includes exchanges in communities, work centers and socio-cultural projects in the provinces of Havana, Matanzas and Pinar del Río.

It was also reported that the Central American Brigade of Solidarity with Cuba received keynote lectures on relations with the United States and an update on the Cuban economy from experts from the Foreign Ministry and the Center for World Economic Studies.

Furthermore, Oscar Barrante, from the Costa Rican Friendship Movement with Cuba, and Elena Flores, from the Honduras-Cuba Friendship Association, donated financial resources for the purchase of medical supplies and the repair of an institution. (Source: Prensa Latina)
