The winter weather might continue throughout January, which, along with February, is the coldest time of the year in Cuba
Havana, Jan 7 (RHC) The western and central regions of Cuba will experience starting Tuesday night a substantial drop in temperatures, due to the arrival of a very cold air mass originating from the Arctic.
According to Dr. Miriam Teresita Llanes Monteagudo, the director of the Forecast Center at the Institute of Meteorology, the mornings of January 8, 9, and 10 will be particularly chilly inland and on the southern coast of both regions, with temperatures dropping below 10 degrees Celsius.
Temperatures could even reach 7 degrees and lower, if the night sky remains clear and the winds are mild.
The winter weather might continue throughout January, which, along with February, is the coldest time of the year in Cuba.
The lowest temperature ever recorded in the country was 0.6 degrees Celsius, and it was achieved on February 18, 1996 in Bainoa, in the province of Mayabeque. (Source: Granma)
