Tokyo, November 20 (RHC-PL) -- Representatives of the Public Health and Foreign Trade Ministries of Cuba just concluded a working visit to Japan, invited by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

A press release from the Cuban embassy in Tokyo said that the group, headed by Deputy Public Health Minister Alfredo Gonzalez, met with Japanese officials and businesspeople, and toured places of economic and social interest.

The visit's agenda included meetings with officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Economy, Trade and Industry, and the Japan Medical Excellence Center, attached to the office of the Prime Minister and the JICA.

The Cuban visitors toured different hospitals and leading companies linked to development, manufacture and marketing of advanced medical technologies, many of them, with an important presence in the Cuban health system.

During their stay, the group discussed the organization of a Seminar on Cooperation in the area of medical devices, in which the deputy minister spoke of the main characteristics of the Cuban health system and the country's developing electro medicine sector.

The visit of the Cuban delegation is part of a framework for mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of advanced medical technologies, established in Japan in 2013.
