Cuban Experts to Discuss Gold Mining

Havana, Mar 25, (RHC), – Focused on priority issues for the economy as gold mining, specialists in the province of Camagüey shall participate with 35 works in the 6th Cuban Convention on Earth Sciences GEOCIENCIAS 2015, from May 4 to 8 in Havana.

Aspects related to gold mining are the focus of six of the papers of the territory, where the precious metal is one of the main lines of development of Camagüey Geo-mining Company, which also operates in the neighboring province of Las Tunas.

The furtive mining at the gold deposit in Jobabo municipality, in Las Tunas, and risks associated with it, mathematical models for a more efficient extraction and processing of the mineral, and proposals for handling chemicals and hazardous wastes at the plant are some of the themes .

This mineral is a major export funds of Camagüey province, and there will be a workshop on Prospecting, Exploitation and Processing of Gold in the context of the event, which this time will be attended by delegates from over 30 countries.

Other topics to be exposed are related to the production of construction materials, studies of hazard, vulnerability and risk in mining, identifying new sources of water supply, and characterization of nickel deposits in the region.

The event takes place biennially, and according to the website open about it more than 650 papers had been received until the end of January, registered in the various workshops and conferences that will be on session in parallel with GEOCIENCIAS 2015 .
