Havana, June 1 (RHC) -- The Cuban tourism industry has been given a new boost with the official resumption of Iberia flights to the Caribbean nation.

The flights of the Spanish airline were suspended two years ago due to unfavorable conditions in the tourism market, and now resume with five weekly flights -- on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.

Iberia CEO Luis Gallego recognized the importance of the Madrid-Havana route, adding that the resumption of flights comes at a key moment of improved U.S.-Cuba relations. Gallego noted that the resumption of dialogue opens up new prospects for the Spanish tourism industry, which has major interests in the archipelago.

The Spanish company said it will cover the route with the Airbus A330 aircraft, which features seats convertible into beds with the length of two meters in Business class and spacious seats in Tourist.
