Cuban Medical Brigade Returns from Chile

Havana June 11 (AIN-RHC)-- The Cuban medical brigade that went to Chile to serve those affected by recent heavy rains and flooding have arrived back in Havana with satisfaction and the recognition of the Chilean people and government.

At the welcoming ceremony at the Jose Marti International Airport, Dr. Marcia Cobas, Deputy Minister of Health, highlighted the excellent work of the 15 brigade members who gave their unconditional support to the people of Atacama, one of the areas most affected by the floods of last April.

The Cuban deputy minister of health also praised the work that Cuban doctors and paramedics are doing in Nepal, who assist thousands of people affected by the massive earthquake two months ago that devastated the small Asian nation.

Carlos Perez Diaz, head of the Cuban medical brigade that returned from Chile, highlighted the catastrophic situation in the country and the joint work of Cuban professionals with medical graduates of the Latin American School of Medicine.
