Dushanbe, June 18 (RHC) -- The President of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba, Esteban Lazo, welcomed the re-election of Zuhurov Shukurjon as the speaker of Tajikistan's lower chamber of parliament (Majlisi Namoyandagon), a diplomatic source confirmed on Wednesday.

On behalf of Cuban lawmakers, Lazo expressed in a letter his certainty that "under the leadership of the Tajik chairman we will continue to develop the traditional friendly relations between our parliaments and peoples," said the Cuban Roving Ambassador to Kazakhstan and Tajikistan, Carlos Valdes.

In the text of the message, Lazo said that the Cuban parliamentary body welcomes the recent resolution adopted by the Tajik Parliament to establish a Group of Friendship and Cooperation with Cuba.
