Havana, August 17 (RHC)-- The Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) has called on its members to strengthen their work in communities and increase the opportunities for dialogue as part of the activities for the 55th anniversary of the organization, on August 23rd.

Speaking to the press, the general secretary of the FMC, Teresa Amarelle, highlighted the importance of the neighborhood-family link for the exchange of concerns and suggestions, and urged women to share their experiences on the economic, physical and sexual autonomy achieved in our country.

Amarelle, who is also a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, said that Thursday will be a great day on social networks to exchange about the challenges that Cuban society faces in order to achieve full equality between the sexes and the measures and projects developed for this purpose.

The women's leader said that this August 23rd, more than four million members will celebrate 55 years of the organization and will remember the outstanding heroine of the Revolution Vilma Espin, considered the eternal president of the Federation of Cuban Women.
