Havana, August 27 (RHC)-- During a meeting of the Provincial Group to Counter Drought in Havana, Division General Ramon Pardo Guerra, head of the National Staff of the Civil Defense of Cuba, called for the implementation of measures that allow for the rational use of available water.
Pardo Guerra noted that the country has taken such measures in previous years, in which many can be perfectly applied today. He added that the State will do all it can to mitigate the negative effects of drought, but that it will be necessary to further promote the saving of water among the area residents.
For her part, Mercedes López Acea, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba and First Secretary in Havana, pointed to the importance of meeting the anticipated implementation schedules, consistent with quality indices.
Member of the Council of State and President of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources, Inés María Chapman, praised the work of Havana Province of in confronting drought and ensuring the availability of water for agriculture and other programs.
