Havana, September 9 (RHC)-- Cubans paid tribute to U.S. Reverend Lucius Walker, a good friend of the Cuban people and their Revolution, on occasion of the 5th anniversary of his death.

A Baptist minister, Lucius Walker served as executive director of the Inter-religious Foundation for Community Organization IFCO/ Pastors for Peace from the 1960s until his death on September 7, 2010, at the age of 80.

Walker was a persistent advocate for ending the U.S. blockade against Cuba. Beginning in 1992, he personally organized and led several friendshipment caravans to Cuba, bringing in humanitarian aid for the Cuban people in open defiance of the blockade regulations.

At the homage paying ceremony, held at the Havana-based Casa de la Amistad, Caridad Diego, Director of the Office of Religious Affairs at the Cuban Communist Party's Central Committee, said the Cuban people were able to know Lucius Walker very well and embraced him as a brother, as one of their own.
