Hanoi, September 10 (RHC)-- Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang met on Wednesday with members of friendship organizations, including Cuban representatives, who attended the 7th Asia-Pacific Regional Meeting in Solidarity with Cuba in Hanoi.
The Vietnamese leader said he was convinced that the forum would help to reinforce the call for the end of the U.S. economic, commercial and financial blockade of Cuba and affirmed Vietnam's support of the Caribbean nation in its struggle for justice.
The president of the Cuban Friendship Institute, Kenia Serrano, briefed the Vietnamese president about the result of the forum and thanked him for his government's support of the regional meeting. Serrano also referred to the Declaration of Hanoi, issued by the regional forum, which stresses the commitment to strengthen solidarity with Cuba.
Present at the talks with the Vietnamese leader was Antonio Guerrero, one of the Cuban Five, who served unfair prison sentences in the United States.
Some 220 representatives of friendship-with-Cuba organizations attended the Hanoi forum -- from Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, the Democratic Republic of Korea, India, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Nepal, New Zealand and the United States.
