New York, September 28 (RHC)-- Cuban President Raul Castro held a working meeting on Sunday with a group of U.S. entrepreneurs, headed by the president of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Thomas Donohue.

The meeting, which took place at the Cuban Mission to the United Nations in New York, focused on business opportunities in Cuba and the limitations that still hinder normal economic relations between the two countries due to the U.S. economic, commercial and financial blockade of Cuba.

According to the Cuban embassy in Washington, Donohue spoke with Raul about the importance of the recently created U.S.-Cuba Business Council, an entrepreneurial initiative involving big U.S. companies, which are interested in having economic links to the island and committed to directly working in the U.S. Congress to achieve the lifting of the blockade.

The working meeting was also attended by Jodi Bond, Vice President for the Americas at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce; Douglas Oberhelman, Chief Executive Officer of Caterpillar, and Kenneth Siegel, Senior Manager and Legal Advisor of the Starwood Hotel chain.

Also present was the Vice President of American Airlines, Art Torno, and the Vice President of General Motors, Lee Godown.

On the Cuban side were Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez, Foreign trade and Investment Minister Rodrigo Malmierca and other officials.
