Havana, October 5 (RHC)-- Cuban President Raul Castro sent Granma newspaper a diploma on the 50th anniversary of its creation. The first edition of the newspaper -- the official organ of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party -- was published on October 4, 1965.
The diploma shows an image of the first Granma newspaper, with the headlines reading: “There is no sacrifice, combat or deed that is not represented in the Central Committee.” It was at that point in time that the Communist Party of Cuba was born under it first leading structures.
The workers at Granma expressed their pleasure with the acknowledgment and their commitment to continue publishing the Communist Party's daily newspaper.
The anniversary was marked last Friday at a political and cultural ceremony, in which Cuban Vice President and Second Secretary of the Communist Party, Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, congratulated all the workers at Granma and described the newspaper as a means of crucial information, education, ideology and culture.
