Havana, January 25 (RHC)-- Brazilian theologian Frei Betto delivered the opening remarks at the 2nd International Conference 'With All and for the Good of All', which went into session Monday afternoon in Havana. More than 600 delegates from 45 countries are in attendance.
Héctor Hernández Pardo, deputy director of the José Martí National Office, said that Martí's ideas of peaceful coexistence among nations are valid in today's world, threatened by constant wars of aggression. He said Marti's ideas favor dialogue among academics and intellectuals and from different generations and regions of the world on issues of common concern.
Ana Sánchez, Director of the José Martí Studies Center, said that the large foreign participation attests to the prestige Cuba enjoys internationally.
World personalities attending the Havana conference on José Martí include Ernesto Samper, the General Secretary of the Union of South American Countries (UNASUR), former Uruguayan President José Mujica and renowned intellectuals Ignacio Ramonet, from France and Argentina's Atilio Borón.
