Havana, February 11 (RHC)-- Peace talks between the government of President Juan Manuel Santos and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People's Army (FARC-EP) continue in Havana, aimed at putting an end to the country's armed conflict.

In a statement released Wednesday, FARC-EP announced its decision not to recruit minors and urged the Colombian government to revoke compulsory military service and stop recruiting people under 18 years of age.

In the text, the rebel group also stressed the need to reach a humanitarian agreement that guarantees the protection of the rights of that vulnerable population sector, which has been hardly hit over the more than 50 years of armed conflict in Colombia.
