La Paz, March 7 (RHC-PL)-- Luis Fernando Leanes, the representative of the Pan American Health Organization and the World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) in Bolivia, has acknowledged the role played for years by Cuban doctors in Latin America and Africa, particularly in the fight against Ebola.

During an interview with Prensa Latina, Leanes said that after the epidemic in West Africa, WHO is undergoing a process of reform in order to have a rapid reaction force, such as conceived by Cuba to confront any emergency.

In 2014, Cuba was the first to respond to the call of the WHO and the UN to deal with Ebola, and sent 256 members of its Henry Reeve International Contingent of Doctors Specialized in Disaster Situations, to Africa.

The representative of WHO and PAHO explained that he has been fortunate to be with the Cubans in the high Andean plateau where, missing the Caribbean and temperature, they do their job with love, conviction and motivation.
