Havana, June 2 (RHC) – The Association of Caribbean States 7th Summit started today in Havana, with a focus on the promotion of sustainable development for the zone.
The summit activities this Thursday feature meetings at the level of high officials at Havana’s Convention Center, in preparation for a foreign ministers meeting, scheduled for Friday.
The Caribbean dignitaries gathered in Havana until Saturday, June 4th, will evaluate and approve a Declaration and Plan of Action. The summit’s final document -- the Havana Declaration -- is expected to stress the need for the Caribbean to work toward sustainable development strengthening coordination and cooperation among regional states, as they face both adverse external economic circumstances and climate conditions.
