Havana, June 22 (RHC)-- Cuban health authorities has reported four new imported cases of zika virus, bringing the total number to 21.
The Cuban health ministry reported that the four patients are Cuban nationals, who returned to the country from Guyana, where they had traveled for personal reasons.
Two persons are from central Villa Clara another, one from Central Sancti Spiritus and a finalone from Havana, according to the report.
Once the symptoms began to show, the persons were hospitalized in their provinces, where blood samples were taken and sent to the Havana-based Pedro Kouri Tropical Medicine Institute, which later confirmed that all cases were positive for Zika virus.
The health ministry adds that all four patients remain hospitalized in good general condition. It calls on the people to stay alert and take all personal protection measures, while traveling abroad to prevent infection with the disease and its possible complications.
