Panama City, June 27 (RHC)-- Vice President Miguel Díaz-Canel received Monday an Honorary Doctorate Degree granted by the iconic University of Panama to Cuban President Raúl Castro.
Díaz-Canel, who is in Panama leading the country's delegation to the official inauguration of the expanded Panama Canal, was also scheduled to meet with representatives of the Cuban diplomatic mission in the Central American country.
In addition to attending the Panama Canal Expansion, the Cuban vice president and his delegation paid tribute to Cuban scientist Carlos J. Finlay, in Old Panama City's Plaza Francia, where a plaque honors the illustrious doctor, who in 1881 discovered that malaria was spread by mosquitoes, which had an important impact in Panama.
