Casa de las Americas literary prize
Havana, January 22 (RHC)-- The 62nd edition of the Casa de las Americas literary prize will take place from January 24th through the 28th, after the necessary pause imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
At a press conference in Havana, Jorge Fornés, director of the Center for Literary Research of Casa de las Americas revealed that more than 1 600 literary works from Latin American writers were received in such categories as poetry, novel, essay and works on social and historical issues.
Fornés, also the president of the organizing committee, said that the event will be limited this time to just one week here in Havana due to the epidemiological situation.
Upon noting that COVID-19 has forced humanity to do things in a different way, he stressed that the Casa de las Americas Literary Prize –the longest of its kind in the Latin American and Caribbean region-- is not the exception.
In that sense, he mentioned that a digital platform was created for authors to submit their works.
