The First Latin American Rock Festival Patria Grande will open Friday at Havana’s Anti-imperialist Tribune with a concert featuring several Latin American bands.

On hand will be No Te Va Gustar from Uruguay; Puya from Puerto Rico; Ra La Culebra from Colombia; Curva Sur from Venezuela and La Milixia from Costa Rica. The band No Te Va Gustar, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary, is very popular in Uruguay and Latin America, cultivating genre, such as Alternative Rock, Murga, Candombe, SkaSka and Rock Reggae.

No Te Va Gustar will have a concert at La Tropical’s Salón Rosado on November 15th, while the band Puya is set to be at the House of Music in Miramar, a performance that will be taped live for a CD production with Cuba’s most important recording industry company EGREM; at the same time Terry Theater in the south central city of Cienfuegos will welcome Ra La culebra, Curva Sur and La Milixia. Other concerts will take place in Santa Clara, Pinar del Río and Havana.

As part of the event, Argentina’s National Library will hold an exhibition to pay tribute to late poet, composer and singer, Luis Alberto Spinetta, known as the Father of Argentinian Rock, featuring some of his drawings, private, professional and documentary photographs.
