Havana, December 31 (RHC)-- Navegantes del Magallanes overcame Tigres de Aragua with a score of 8-6 to extend their consecutive winning streak in the semifinal round of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP).
Waiter Leonardo Reginatto led Navegantes' offense by hitting 4-3 with a home run, two runs scored and three runs batted in, seconded by outfielder Cade Gotta, also 4-3 with a double and three runs batted in.
On the mound, Enderson Franco gave a perfect two-inning relief performance to earn the victory, with Bruce Rondón earning a save, while Elih Villanueva took the loss after conceding five clean pitches in three and two-thirds innings of work.
Alexi Amarista also hit 4-2, including a home run, and drove in three runs for the defeated team.
In the other game of the day, Caribes de Anzoátegui displayed a 20-strikeout offense to overcome Leones del Caracas 10-4, with catcher Jesús Sucre, who hit 4-4 with a pair of doubles and five RBIs.
Yohan Pino recorded his first hit of the post-season by throwing five hits and a cleanup in five innings of work, while the defeated Jhonatan Díaz allowed six hits and four runs in just one inning worked.
Navegantes leads the LVBP semifinal round with a perfect 3-0 record, escorted by Caribes (2-1), Cardenales de Lara (1-2), Leones (1-2) and Tigres (1-3).
This Thursday, Lara will play against the leader Magallanes and Caracas will face Anzoátegui, always at the home of the aforementioned teams.
