Silver for Cuba in U-15 Baseball World Cup
Hermosillo, September 5 (PL)-- The Cuban national team won the silver medal in the World Baseball Championship, U-15 category, after losing the title game against the United States 4-3.
The Cuban team lost in a close duel against the North Americans that ended with a strikeout in the top of the seventh inning when they had the bases loaded and their best batter on duty.
It was a close duel that had its decision in the bottom of the fifth inning when the North's bullpen player Ethan Holliday hit a shot to center field with which he towed in the decisive run on a fielder's choice play to outfielder James Tronstein.
The Stars and Stripes were the best team throughout the tournament; however, they faced a tough obstacle in the final in the Cuban team, which sold its defeat at a high price.
The third place match could not be played because the Japanese team had multiple cases of Covid-19 and the Chinese Taipei team finished with the bronze medal.
