Portuarios and Agricultores one step away from the final in Cuban Baseball
Havana, January 9 (PL) -- Portuarios and Agricultores are approaching the final of the First Cuban Baseball Elite League.
The Portuarios team beat Centrales 10-1 on Sunday, while Agricultores defeated Tabacaleros 7x2, to place the semifinal duels at the point of a slam dunk.
In a game played at the Nelson Fernández stadium, in San José, Centrales scored first in the first inning, but in that same inning Portuarios turned the score around with a home run by Yasniel González, with Oscar Valdés in circulation.
For the winners, the right-hander Raymond Figueredo seemed to explode in the first inning, but he recovered and pitched until the seventh inning, with only four hits, four strikeouts and only one allowed.
This Monday, the fifth game between Portuarios and Centrales (3-1 in the series) will be played and if the western team wins, they would advance to the final. If Centrales wins, they would have to go to a sixth game on Wednesday at the Victoria stadium in Girón.
In the other semifinal, Agricultores won again comfortably against Tabacaleros, with two home runs by Rafael Viñales and another by Andrés de la Cruz at the Capitán San Luis stadium in Pinar del Río.
This elimination is also on the verge of being a slam dunk, as it was the third victory for the eastern team, for none of their opponents.
