Havana, August 13 (PL) --The Kerala state session of the Cuba Solidarity Committee in India today organized a basketball game in tribute to Fidel Castro on his 97th birthday.
The sporting event in honor of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution was held in the district of Kollam, according to information sent to Prensa Latina.
Likewise, in New Delhi, the important date was celebrated with a soccer match with the participation of Ambassador Alejandro Simancas, members of the diplomatic corps of Venezuela, Argentina and Bolivia, and members of the National Committee of Solidarity with the island.
Before the game, B. V. Raghavulu, member of the politburo of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), highlighted the revolutionary ideas of the Cuban leader and his influence in the struggles for justice.
On the other hand, the secretary general of the All India Peace and Solidarity Organization (Aipso), Arun Kumar, highlighted Fidel's humanist qualities and his link with the practice of sports.
The revolutionary leader always encouraged the youth to practice sports and healthy lifestyle habits, he emphasized.
