Peru-Cuba friendly match

Havana, Apr 9 (JIT) - The Peruvian women's national soccer team took revenge on the Cuban team with a 3-2 score in the second friendly match between the two teams in the Andean lands.

After a victory for the visitors last Saturday, the home team threatened to score a goal to change the image.

Despite creating chances in the first half, the Caribbeans were unable to convert them into goals, and a penalty kick in the 39th minute, taken by Sandy Dorador, sent them into the halftime break at a disadvantage.

Little time passed between the return to the field and the second goal, scored by Mía León after a series of rebounds in the opponent's area.

And in the 51st minute, another penalty kick in favor of the Peruvians, again scored by Dorador, made it 3-0 and demanded an urgent reaction from the Tricolor at the Iván Elías Moreno stadium in Villa El Salvador.

Once again, Elizabeth Cuff's changes proved effective: the team became more offensive and began to arrive with greater danger.

The threats turned into goals, thanks to the goalscoring instinct and the excellent form of Santiago's Maritania Mengana, who pulled one back at 73', and then Kennys Arocha Castellanos scored the definitive 3-2 at 88'.

Despite the defeat, the team was able to react to the adverse result, and despite defensive lapses, showed the capacity to create and score goals.

Beyond the results, which can be evaluated as good, these matches leave a favorable impression, especially because of the good image of the Leonas del Caribe on foreign soil.
