Wrestling
Cuban Greco-Roman gladiators Miguel Martinez and Yasmany Lugo debut today at the World Wrestling Championship, based in the U.S. city of Las Vegas, and running until September 12th.

Martinez, in the 66 kg and Lugo at 98, will try at least to finish in the top 5 in their respective divisions to ensure a ticket to the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro-2016.

 

Softball
From today until September 11th Ciego de Avila will host the 17th edition of Softball Tournament of the Cuban Press Jorge Luis Valdes Rionda in Memoriam, with the participation of 10 teams.

On this occasion, more than 150 journalists-athletes will represent the national newspaper bodies from Holguin, Granma, Las Tunas, Sancti Spiritus, Camagüey, Isla de la Juventud, Ciego de Avila, Vaqueros (Artemisa and Mayabeque) and Serranos (Santiago Cuba and Guantanamo).

The top opening of the event will be at the National School of Softball between the Isla de la Juventud and the locals, but also includes 4 other playgrounds where there will be 2 games every day.

Felipe Jorge Luis Delgado, president of the Union of Journalists of Cuba (UPEC) in the province, said that a graphic exhibition with samples achieved at the Pan-American Games in Toronto, Canada is included among the side events.

Volleyball
The Cuban women's team defeated South Korea in 5 sets today at the World Volleyball Cup, which ended in several Japanese cities with the participation of 12 teams, looking for 2 tickets to the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro 2016.

 

Circus
The National Circus of Cuba, which began intense presentations on July 19th in Camaguey, is now ending its national tour in Isla de la Juventud with great acclamation.
