Washington, May 6 (RHC)-- The Pentagon is facing accusations that it is drastically underestimating the number of civilians being killed in U.S. airstrikes overseas.  The Pentagon has released a report saying the U.S. had killed 120 civilians in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Yemen and Somalia last year.

However, the watchdog monitoring group Airwars says the total is at least 10 times higher.  In Iraq and Syria, the Pentagon admitted to killing 42 people, but Airwars put the civilian death toll from attacks by the U.S.-led coalition at over 800.

This comes as a new report is revealed, showing global military spending by the United States at $649 billion last year on its military -- that’s nearly as much as the next eight countries combined.  The report was issued by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute.
