Washington, May 18 (RHC)-- New research into healthcare inequities in the United States shows higher mortality rates among Black communities resulted in a staggering 1.63 million excess deaths in the past two decades compared to the white population.

One study says the COVID-19 pandemic’s disproportionate impact on Black communities erased years of progress in attempting to close the healthcare gap.  Black people are also far more likely to die at a younger age than white people due to the impacts of long-standing discrimination in access to health insurance, medical care, housing, employment and other living necessities.
