Buenos Aires, November 19 (RHC) -- The candidate for La Libertad Avanza, Javier Milei, obtained today more than 55 percent of the votes in the second round of the general elections and will be the next President of Argentina.

According to provisional data, with 93.39 percent of the tables counted, Milei obtained 13 million 688 thousand 637votes (55.82), while the representative of Unión por la Patria, Sergio Massa, registered the support of 10 million 832 thousand 933 citizens (44.17).

In an intervention from Complex C, in this capital city, Massa communicated that he congratulated his opponent and pointed out that it was a very long and difficult campaign, which at some point had some rough tints that hopefully will be abandoned for good.

In addition, he indicated that he raised to Milei and to President Alberto Fernández the need to set in motion tomorrow mechanisms of liaison and transition of democratic change so that the Argentines in the next 19 days do not have doubts or uncertainties regarding the normal economic, social, political and institutional functioning.

The citizens chose a different path and the responsibility of providing certainty and guarantees regarding the country's functioning is the responsibility of the new President. We hope that he will do so, he said.

On the other hand, he highlighted the value of democratic coexistence and respect for others and thanked the support received from unions, social organizations and civil society.

This day ratifies that Argentina has a strong, solid and transparent democratic system that always respects the results. These are not the numbers we expected. Today ends a stage in my political life, but know that you will always count on me to defend the values of labor, public education, national industry and federalism, he said.

Coexistence, dialogue and respect for peace are the best way to face violence and disqualification, he added.  (Source: Prensa Latina)
