Caracas, June 22 (RHC)-- The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry has accused Britain of interference in the internal affairs of the South American nation.

A statement issued in Caracas says: "Rishi Sunak's government of taking sides with a criminal political class, alluding to the extremist opposition that calls for sanctions against Venezuelan families."

The Foreign Ministry rejected a new act of interference by the United Kingdom, whose Government attempted to question internal processes of that sovereign State.

Through a statement broadcast on national TV, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro said: "A new and vulgar exercise of interference and neocolonial pretension" [is being conducted by the UK] and assured that "the United Kingdom takes sides with a criminal and extremist Venezuelan political class subservient to imperial interests."

In reference to the opposition sector that asked the United States and European nations for pressure measures and even invasions against the country, Venezuela's Foreign Ministry recalled that this extremist group and inciter of destabilization has allied itself with foreign powers and "has handed over the assets of the nation, such as gold held in the Bank of England, as well as the promotion of unilateral coercive measures; illegal actions against the people of Venezuela."

The statement stressed that under no circumstances will the national government allow Guyana Esequiba to be dispossessed, "an action attempted by that decadent empire for more than 150 years."

Finally, the Venezuelan Ministry of Foreign Affairs demanded that the United Kingdom desist from its insolent position and respect the rights gained by Venezuela since its independence, when it expelled the European imperialists from its territories.
