State of emergency declared in Haiti
Port-au-Prince, July 18 (RHC) Haiti's interim Prime Minister Garry Conille today declared a state of security emergency in 14 gang-held municipalities.
Conille said the decision was made jointly with the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT) and his government for the departments of West and Artibonite.
The Interim Prime Minister reiterated last night that security is one of the priorities of the Presidential Transitional Council and his ministerial team, since solving this problem would reduce the impact on the economy and Haitian families.
Conille asked the press to avoid reports that would reveal information about the modus operandi of the security forces.
Without talking about a possible dialogue, Conille called on the members of the gangs sowing terror to lay down their arms and recognize the authority of the state. (Source: PL)
