Ramallah, January 9 (RHC)-- Palestinian organizations have repeatedly denounced the urgency of taking international measures to investigate and stop the torture practices applied by the Zionist regime of Israel against Palestinian detainees, which represent serious violations of human rights.
The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners Society denounced this Tuesday the death of 54 Palestinians who have been kidnapped by the Israeli occupation since October 7, 2023.
According to the report, 35 of the fatalities were originally from the Gaza Strip, while Israeli authorities have concealed the deaths of dozens of abductees and withheld the bodies of 63 deceased individuals.
The testimonies were collected following a visit to the Israeli Naqab prison and reveal how the Zionist entity uses scabies as a method of torture. The highly contagious disease has spread among the inmates, who suffer from itching, sores, and boils.
One of the interviewees described the situation as "tragic" and noted that many cannot sleep due to the symptoms and the methods of torture to which they are subjected.
Another detainee, identified as JS, expressed: "Nowadays, the situation in the Naqab prison is very difficult and tragic due to the continuous spread of scabies, and most of the prisoners suffer from sores and boils, and cannot sleep due to the intense itching."
JS also recounted the case of his cellmate, Ashraf Abu Warda, who lost the ability to speak and move before dying due to the terrible prison conditions and torture methods.
In addition to the illness, the detainees reported the humiliating treatment they are subjected to and highlighted the use of methods such as throwing wastewater, urine, and hot water at them, as well as keeping them handcuffed, blindfolded, and kneeling for long periods.
According to the statements, the Israeli prison administration removes the mattresses from the cells during the day and returns them only at night, intentionally delaying their delivery on some occasions until midnight, despite the low temperatures.
