Brasilia, February 16 (RHC)-- The Brazilian foreign minister has announced the venue and dates on which the summit will be held in a video posted on the social network.

The Brazilian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira, said that the BRICS summit will be held July 6th and 7th in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro.

Brazil's foreign minister announced the venue and dates on which the summit will be held in a video published on the social network X, from the official account of the mayor of Rio, Eduardo Paés.

“The president (Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva) authorized me to announce that the meeting of the heads of state of the BRICS will be in Rio de Janeiro, in the month of July, on the 6th and 7th, when we will receive in the city the leaders of the 20 countries that make up the BRICS as full members and partners,” Vieira reported in the audiovisual material.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, through a direct line to a press conference, stressed that many nations show interest in the progress of the BRICS, as decisions are taken by consensus.

Since January 1st, the South American nation took the rotating presidency of the BRICS, a forum that currently also has Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia, Iran, Indonesia, and Saudi Arabia as full members, although the latter nation has not officially announced its incorporation.

Among the associated states are Cuba and Bolivia in Latin America, while Belarus, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Thailand, Uganda, Uzbekistan and Nigeria have the same status.
