Berlin, June 8 (RHC)-- The G-7 Summit comes to a close in Germany with thousands of protesters taking to the streets in the town of Garmisch, located near the secluded resort where heads of state gathered inside a hundred-year-old castle.
G-7 summit protesters were met by a massive show of police force, with as many as 20,000 officers deployed over the weekend. On Sunday, world leaders and even reporters covering the event had to be shuttled to the G-7 talks by helicopter after protesters blocked a main road.
Issues under discussion included climate change, austerity, Greece’s fiscal crisis, the Transpacific Partnership trade deal, and what U.S. President Barack Obama called "Russian aggression" in Ukraine.
