Port au Prince, December 22 (RHC-teleSUR)-- Haiti's electoral authority has postponed a presidential runoff vote scheduled for this weekend.
Haiti's electoral council announced Monday a crucial vote scheduled for the weekend would be postponed.
In a surprise statement just days before the December 27th presidential runoff election, Haiti’s Provisional Electoral Council said the vote would be pushed back.
A new date was yet to be announced at the time of writing, though electoral officials have previously suggested the vote could be pushed back as far as early February.
It also wasn't immediately clear what sparked the sudden postponement.
