Brussels, June 20 (RHC)-- The European Parliament Foreign Affair Committee Tuesday pledged to continue EU's rapprochement with Cuba in the framework of the bilateral Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement signed by the two sides last December.
With 57 votes in favor, nine against and two abstentions, European parliamentarians expressed their support for the new text, which ended the so-called 'common stance on Cuba' passed in 1996.
Before it provisionally enters into force, the agreement must be ratified by the European parliament. The full house is scheduled to vote on the text during the next plenary session in Strasbourg next month.
