Doha, December 5 (RHC)-- The Qatari National Institute of Sanitary Quality has awarded the Cuban hospital of Dukhan, in Qatar, two important distinctions: the Annual Stars of Excellence Award, for achieving excellence in the quality of health and safety of the patient, and a recognition to the venous thrombosis prophylaxis team, for the continuous commitment, dedication and hard work, with a contribution that is making a difference in that Arab State.
Both awards are given annually by the Qatari Ministry of Health and recipients are chosen by all hospitals in the country.
The awards are an addition to the many that Dukhan's Cuban Hospital has been receiving since its founding and have made it a jewel of the area's medical services, according to Qatari media and health authorities, Cuban Health Minister Jose Angel Portal Miranda wrote on Facebook.
The Cuban Hospital was officially opened in 2012. As a joint project between the two governments of Qatar and Cuba, the hospital is staffed by more than 450 Cuban medical professionals.
The Cuban Hospital provides all medical and surgical services in more than 25 specialties.
