Havana, February 8 (RHC)--The provincial Governors and deputy Governors elected in the municipal assemblies of People's Power at the proposal of the president of the Republic took office this Saturday.
The solemn ceremonies were held simultaneously in all the provinces with the attendance of a designated member of the Council of State.
According to Articles 174 and 178 of the newly adopted constitution, the governor is the highest executive-administrative official in the provinces and organizes and directs the administration, for which he/she is assisted by the corresponding administrative entity.
The deputy governor, as provided for in Article 181, fulfills the powers assigned to him/her by the governor and substitutes for them in the event of absence, illness or death.
