Havana, April 2 (RHC)--Cuba reported on Thursday 21 new cases of COVID-19, bringing to 233 the cases diagnosed on the island.

The new cases include 20 Cubans and one foreign citizen.

In the daily briefing on the development of the epidemic on the island, the head of Epidemiology at the Ministry of Public Affairs, Dr. Francisco Duran, said that  2320 people remain hospitalized, of whom 1140 are suspects.

Of the 213 confirmed cases, 206 are reported in stable, 5 in critical, and two in serious condition. So far, thirteen patients recovered.
Over 25 thousand people remain in-home observation in communities by the primary care system in the island.

Duran informed that health authorities Cuba conducted 18849 rapid tests over the last 48 hours, which confirmed 15 cases. Those who tested positive, are also being submitted to molecular lab tests for confirmation.  People tested included people who arrive from abroad, persons with epidemiological risks, and health workers.

178 countries have reported new coronavirus cases worldwide, amounting to 850,000 with 42,100 deaths.

The region of the Americas reports 217.466 cases contributing a quarter of the grand total of cases  in the world, with over 4,600 deaths.
