Havana, December 8 (RHC)-- In Cuba, the number of people confirmed with COVID-19 increases. Therefore, so does the number of patients admitted with the disease, which on Monday amounted to 771.
The temporary working group for the prevention and control of the new coronavirus analyzed this situation on Monday.
Once again, authorities insisted on the need to enforce isolation protocols for international travelers who arrive in the country, whose violations have generated the spread of the virus in territories that for months had not reported new infections.
Vice-minister of Public Health, Regla Ángulo Pardo, said all provinces diagnosed imported cases during the month.
According to Angulo Pardo, in the last seven days, the number of indigenous cases increased by 43% and the number of imported cases by 40.5%.
Havana, Pinar del Río, Villa Clara, Santiago de Cuba, Artemisa, Camagüey, Cienfuegos and Ciego de Ávila - she said-reported 82% of the people diagnosed with the disease in the 39th week of the epidemic.
Although there was a slight decrease in the number of travelers confirmed with the virus at the end of last week than native cases, the alert continues to be active, as this remains the primary source of infection in the current health context.
Thirteen provinces and the special municipality of the Isle of Youth reported people confirmed with SARS-CoV-2 Monday, which evidences the virus's dispersion in the national territory.
The temporary working group agreed on the importance of continuing the rigorous analysis of each specific place's epidemiological situation and ensuring compliance with the health indicators established for each of the recovery phases.
Since last March 1229 imported cases have been registered in Cuba. 663 have been confirmed between November and December.
The health official stressed that coping with this situation is not only the responsibility of Health institutions and the Government.
"The reduction of infections depends, to a great extent, on the family and community discipline, as they implement the new normality in Cuba", she said.
