Cuba reports 919 new COVID-19 infections and one death

Havana, March 28 (RHC)-- Cuban health authorities reported on Sunday more than 900 new cases of coronavirus for a  second consecutive day, with 919 diagnosed on Saturday.

Of all the cases, 913 were autochthonous—880 contacts of previously confirmed cases and in 33 the source of infection could not be determined. Only six cases were imported, from three from Russia and 3 from the United States.

A person died from COVID-19 and 802 medical discharges were given. Active cases on the island increased to 3,533.

Havana continues to be the province with the highest incidence with 502 cases reported on Saturday in its 15 municipalities, followed by Camagüey with 109, Santiago de Cuba 107 and Pinar del Río with 40.

With these figures, Cuba today shows a rate of 105.7 autochthonous COVID-19 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 15 days and maintains a complex epidemiological situation, amid a third wave  that at the end of March could mark a new record of infections for a month on the island.

To date, 66 109 have contracted
