Havana, August 27 (RHC)--The Central Bank of Cuba (BCC) authorized the Grupo Empresarial Correos de Cuba (GECC)(Postal Service) and 19 of the 20 companies that make up this organization to provide financial support services to collection or payment institutions located in the national territory.
According to a press release on the Correos de Cuba website, the financial services to be offered in its computerized offices are the imposition and collection of national money orders, collection of international money orders in Cuban pesos sent in dollars or euros in Correos de Cuba units in Spain, Chile, Uruguay, Dominican Republic, Colombia, and Peru.
Likewise, deposits in hard currency cards will also be authorized, although for now exclusively from Spain.
Likewise, the offices will be authorized to process payments of services and products through electronic means of payment or magnetic cards, deposits, and cash withdrawals in Cuban pesos.
The Grupo Empresarial Correos de Cuba has 30 days to carry out the corresponding procedures and legalizations with the BCC and Empresa RED S.A. to start offering such services to the population by the end of September.
