Havana, November 10 (RHC)--Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez held a fraternal meeting with Spanish Member of the European Parliament Manuel Pineda Marin, who is visiting the Caribbean island.
Diaz-Canel thanked Pineda for the appeal of support for Cuba he made upon his arrival in Havana and, particularly for the firm position he has maintained together with the group of left-wing members in the European Parliament, to stop attempts to single out Cuba and eliminate the Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement that has contributed to the development of relations between the Island and the European Union in recent years.
The Spanish MEP reiterated his solidarity with Cuba while reaffirming the invariable position of the European Left against the U.S. blockade, the main obstacle for the development of the Island.
Invited by the National Assembly of People's Power, MEP Pineda is carrying out an extensive work program, which includes meetings with political and government authorities at the national and local levels, representatives of the scientific, youth, cultural and civil society sectors, as well as visits to places of interest.
Also present during the meeting were Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla and Vice President of the National Assembly of People's Power Ana María Mari Machado.
