Havana, Sep 23 (RHC) On Friday, Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz held a dialogue with executives and representatives of organizations associated with the economic sector on the creation of a system to conduct, regulate and control non-state forms of management.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Planning, Alejandro Gil Fernández.

From his profile on the social network Twitter, Marrero Cruz pointed out that the strategy, promoted by the Government, involves self-employed workers, cooperatives, and Micro, Small, and Medium size Enterprises (MSMEs).

The most recent figures provided by the Ministry of Economy and Planning reveal that since the beginning of the process in September 2021, the entity approved the creation of 5,149 private MSMEs, 51 state-owned and 58 non-agricultural cooperatives.

According to the estimated numbers, these forms of organization will provide 89,602 new jobs.  The 133 already authorized are part of local development projects and 12 are linked to the Scientific and Technological Park of Havana.

For the first time in August 2020, non-state businesses in the Caribbean nation received accreditation for the promotion of foreign trade operations, in response to the economic urgency and as a palliative to the crisis generated by Covid-19.

Cuban authorities informed on September 21 about the signing of 15,497 contracts, valued at a little more than 300 million dollars; the revision of regulations issued several decades ago, and others related to imports and exports through the border. (Source: PL)
