Díaz-Canel at meeting of experts and scientists
Havana, October 12 (RHC)-- The meeting of experts and scientists on health issues held Tuesday afternoon at the Palace of the Revolution was headed by the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, as well as by Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz.
The prevention of dengue and other arbovirosis was at the center of the debates, the specialists urged through videoconference, to go to the "cause of the causes", which means eliminating the breeding places of the Aedes aegypti mosquitoes.
It is necessary to work on how to change behaviors in the communities to eliminate vector breeding sites.
As far as the COVID-19 epidemic is concerned, Cuba maintains a very favorable situation, and this achievement validates the effectiveness of the protocols that have been followed in confronting the virus, and also the quality of the vaccines created by the island's scientists.
On this subject, the Minister of Public Health, José Ángel Portal, affirmed that the number of cases is decreasing daily, sharing several interesting data.
He also confirmed that dengue has shown a decrease of confirmed cases in the last three weeks, however, he urged the population not to be confident.
He added that the provinces with the highest risk of dengue transmission are Guantánamo, Santiago de Cuba, Las Tunas, Havana, Sancti Spíritus and Camagüey.
